The beauty of the clay Each mug is thrown by hand on the potter's wheel in my South Shropshire studio using a special speckled stoneware clay. The dark iron spots in the clay react beautifully with the heat of the kiln, bleeding through the glaze to create that wonderful, organic freckled look. Because the speckling occurs naturally during the firing process, every single mug turns out slightly different, making yours completely one-of-a-kind.
